Best 10 Tracks of 2014

From Jungle to Jamie XX, my soundtrack of 2014.

1) Jamie XX – Girl

Toe-tappin’ goodness. Rolling Stone did a better review on it than I ever could.

Available at iTunes:
Girl / Sleep Sound was out 5 May 2014 on Young Turks.

2) Telegram – Follow

This was actually released in 2013, but hey.

Available at iTunes:

3) Hollie Cook – Tiger Balm

Tropical. Pop. Reggae. Dub.

I did a review on her album ‘Twice’ earlier this year.

Available from:

4) Jungle – Time

The video (directed by J from Jungle & Oliver Hadlee Pearch) was cool and not what I was expecting.

I reckon this is the strongest track off the album.

This, or ‘Julia’.

Buy it here:

5) Cash+David – Funn

In October we found out Tim Ross (Cash) and 24-year-old Liz Lawrence (David) were the masterminds behind this electro-pop duo.

FUNN, Download iTunes Worldwide:

6) White Fence – Before He Met Her (Decomposing Lime)

A slice of psychedelia from Tim Presley’s project ‘White Fence’.

Sonic Cathedral – BandCamp.

7) Flyte – We Are The Rain

Britain. And pop.

Available via paradYse records or iTunes –

8) Tom Misch & Carmody – Release You

Seen here performing for Mahogany Sessions, you can listen to the original below.

I advise you go buy their EP now.

Out To Sea EP –

9) Sia – Chandelier

In pretty much every ‘best of’ article I’ve seen. You can see why. And that video…

Download on iTunes Amazon or listen on Spotify

Music video by Sia performing Chandelier. (C) 2014 Monkey Puzzle Records, under exclusive license to RCA Records.

10) Run The Jewels – Blockbuster Night Part 1

I actually found this tune when researching my top 10.

Get high, rescue a cat.

“Blockbuster Night Part 1” is the first single off of Run The Jewels 2. Buy it here in iTunes:
